Test Equipment Radiodetection RD8100

Test Equipment Radiodetection RD8100

Description

The Radiodetction RD8100 precision underground services locator encompasses the latest technology available, and puts it into Radiodetection's most advanced precision locator range ever built. Containing a unique arrangement of 5 antennas, the RD8100 delivers locate accuracy and precision like no other underground service locator. With integrated GPS and usage logging, and an array of locators and transmitters, the RD8100 can be optimised to the job in hand, delivering locate accuracy, speed and ease of use at an unprecedented level.
With modern utilities infrastructures becoming more complex, more powerful tools are required by cable and pipe location specialists to make the task of differentiating between different utilities easier and faster. The latest responsive circuitry found in the RD8100 allows operators to detect even weak signals on difficult to locate utilities. Multiple operating modes and advanced features, such as iLOC, TruDepth, StrikeAlert, GPS, and SideStep make the RD8100 capable of performing advanced locates with ease, both quickly and safely.
Available in a range of configurations, with various locators and transmitters, the RD8100 is fully customisable to meet the demands of today's locate professionals.
Features:
Multiple Modes -
Peak - Displays the strongest response when directly above a cable. Depth and current measurements are also displayed. This mode is used for precise underground location, and tends to be the familiar one to most operators.
Peak+ - Works in the same way as peak mode, but adds guidance or null modes and alternates between them and peak mode for finding the target line quickly, while checking for the presence of multiple buried services which may require extra vigilance.
Guidance - Displays proportional guidance arrows and different audible tones to indicate if a buried utility is to the left or right of the user. Generally used for checking the direction of a utility, and useful in congested areas.
Broad Peak - Similar to Peak mode but better suited to locating weaker signals. Especially useful for locating deep services or when conventional peak mode is difficult, for instance due to interference.
Null - Arrows on the display and audible signals indicate the position of the cable relative to the user. Usually good for long distance locates in non-congested areas.
iLOC - The RD8100 locator can be specified with an advanced Bluetooth connection which allows the operator to control the transmitter output power and frequency from up to 450m away, cutting down trips back to the transmitter to change settings thus allowing the user to locate more efficiently and faster than ever before.
GPS and Usage Logging - On models equipped with GPS, the RD8100 can automatically capture key locate information each second allowing you to see how the locator was being used and where. The data generated by the RD8100 can be used for both best working practices development and also can be exported in multiple file formats, for example to Google Maps to show where the locates were performed. Data can be used internally, and also sent to partners and clients to show the locate details in an easy to understand format.
ECert - The calibration of the locator can be verified over the internet using the RD Manager software program. This prevents having to return the unit for calibration. Once the process is completed, a calibration report can be saved to a PC or printed off from the comfort of your home or office.

The RD8100 also has a number of features designed to provide unparalleled accuracy, including:

TruDepth - As depth readings are only given when the RD8100 is correctly oriented, the operator can be accurate in the result.
StrikeAlert - Visual and audible warnings of shallow cables in both active and passive modes reduces the risk of accidents.
Enahnced Self-Test - Signals are applied to both the locating circuitry, power and display functions for confirmation on site that all is working properly.
CD (Current Direction) - Identify the target even among parallel utilities by applying a specialised signal from the TX-10 transmitter. Arrows on the locator display confirm that the correct target is being traced.
4kHz Locate Frequency - Lines such as telecoms twisted pair or street lighting can be traced over longer distances. In areas of dense congestion, use it with CD to improve the trace accuracy.
Power Filters - When tracing a live cable through dense networks, conflicting signals can be a challenge. A single key press uses the harmonic properties of power signals to establish of the signal is from the target line or multiple sources.
SideStep - Adjusts the frequency slightly enabling locates in areas of interference to be undertaken.
Dynamic Overload Protection - Filters out interference, enabling use of the RD8100 in electrically noisy environments, such as near overhead power lines or substations.
Simultaneous Depth & Current Readout - Consistency of depth and current measurements give confidence that the correct cable or utility is being followed.

With three locators, and three transmitters optimised to various industries, the RD8100 is both versatile and powerful. Each locator is available with or without GPS and logging, and the transmitters (except the TX-1) can be specified with or without iLOC for Bluetooth control.
